Moksha Patam – The game of virtues and vices

MOKSHA-PATAM – ENLIGHTENMENT BOARD TO ASK QUESTIONS

Moksha-Patam.jpg

The profound knowledge of 13th-century poet saint Gyandev created a divinatory game known as Mokshapata, mokshapattam, param padam or vaikunthpalli.

This Divination board is also called The Leela of Self Knowledge by the seers and known as Gyan Chaupad – is a “Game of Knowledge”. This game was designed by the seers and saints to learn the Wisdom and Laws of life. The player or the seeker must abide by the rules.

This game consists of a board depicting snakes and ladders. On the board, the ladder represents virtues and snakes represent vices. The game is still played with a dice and a coin (representing the player), though this game has undergone several modifications over many centuries, its basic essence remains the same.

This board contains 72 boxes, and each box represents our state of being at one particular point in time. Learning about the board helps in innumerable ways. We can ask the board about not only our past, present, and future but our Soul’s Journey as a whole. It is a map of our inner states. The board not only helps in finding answers to your questions, but it can also guide you to create answers that can change the situation that led to the question. Ladders are the positive aspects of our behaviour and consciousness which help us to evolve, and Snakes represent our negative side which needs to be transformed to reach enlightenment.

The mokshapattam was initially created to teach moral values and develop the skill of quick thinking in the players or disciples of the saints, later observing its profoundness the board was used for divination purposes. The board serves the dual purpose of entertainment as well as the dos and don’ts of life. It also teaches us about divine rewards, punishments, ethical values and morality. The final aim of each soul is to reach salvation or moksha or the Vaikuntha Loka.

So, what do we find in a Mokshapatta reading?

Mokshapatta is a divination tool that fills the reader with ancient Indian wisdom and the rules of karma. Any question can be asked and the reader answers with the wisdom of the board and his own awakened intuitions.

In a mokshapatta reading, you may not only get answers to your queries regarding past, present and future but you can also get an insight into various turning points that you may have in various stages of your life, be it this life or your past lives. The board tells us all.

Moksha-Patam is not just an ordinary gaming board. It could transform not only your physical materialistic life but help us reach a level of wisdom in your spiritual journey as well.
